Spring? Spring!

Although the weather is kind of crap out (cold, drizzly rain at 35F), we are at the vernal equinox, meaning that spring is technically here. And to prove that it really is (and brighten the mood), I offer this photo taken in front of my house Monday afternoon.

These are my reticulated irises, which grow from bulbs rather than rhizomes and bloom much earlier than standard garden irises. These even opened 12 days earlier this year than last. Here's proof.

Wonderful for you! Here in Madison, WI, we've broken the old 1978 snow record this winter, with a winter storm watch/warning for tonight.......and it has been so nice this past week, melting much of the snow and bringing "hopes" for consistent warmer weather. :(

OMG, this must mean that Spring will really come the few miles north to my house sometime soon!

Are those the teeny tiny little irises? We used to have some that were not much bigger than crocuses and bloomed very early.

Beautiful. Nice when spring actually cooperates with, well, Spring.

A year later (well, 353 days later), DH still is saying 'NO WAY'. I wonder... what are you guys doing to heat up your yard like that? It sleeted, rained, iced, snowed, and sleeted here all day...
