Quick Pic

Since I haven't had many pics lately (except, of course, the gruesome one last week) and particularly no progress pics, I thought I'd give you this one*:

As you can see, it's coming along, but there's still quite a lot to do.

I also baked 8 cake layers today. We're doing multiple smaller cakes in an arrangement, rather than some elaborate monstrosity, and the recipe is actually for a pound cake. Except that I'm doing it in round layers, and it's going to have real buttercream frosting. It may give someone a coronary, but at least they'll die in cake-induced ecstasy.

*The books right at my toes are from the Pure Dead series by Debi Gliori. She has a wonderful blog (in which there is occasional knitting content) right here.

May you have a wonderful wedding day and a happy life together - and I hope you finish your sock in time!

You know, if you wore boots, you may be able to stop right there....

Death by cake-induced ecstasy. Surely there are worse ways to go.

Cool idea. Friends of ours asked guests to bring chocolate cake (uniced) and they made a huge arrangement and poured chocolate sauce over the whole shebang.

I hope the wedding goes well, even if the grass is a bit long and wet.

Okay, what kind of Bridezilla bakes his own multilayered wedding cake? You make the rest of us slackers look bad.

Hmm...I know there is still a lot of sock left to finish, but I think you can do it! I'll think good sock thoughts for ya!

If nothing else, there will be cake. And I'd much rather have cake than socks if I really had to choose.

Great socks, hope #2 makes it.

I love pound cake. The thought of all that cream and butter in one place -- I'd be fanning myself except it's dropped to 48 degrees here!

I hope you enjoy your David as much as I've enjoyed mine. We celebrated 20 years last week with about 9 of hanging around together before that. Davids in general tend to be quirky but fun.

And thanks for the link to Deb Gliori's blog! I love the Pure Dead books!

Well, hey, I was thinking about you and David this morning and wondering if maybe I hadn't read anything from you because you were off celebrating (short memory me... don't have a clue anymore about when the festivities are).... and lo! and behold! my bloglines has finally picked you up! The last post I had was the 'just wondering' one. geesh. Oh, I just had a great idea in case you don't finish your sock... wear some thin other socks of a similar color, and then wear the kilt hose over them... you're pretty much there and that's the second sock, right? who's gonna notice if you didn't finish it entirely? And if anybody noticed, who'd care???

There's a World of Warcraft guild on my server called Cake and Death.

It's kind of a good philosophy, if you think about it...

I'm extremely excited for you and David. I might bake my own cake, I'm that excited. :-)
